papillons choir

VARIANTĂ ÎN ROMÂNĂ

Drag, Last-minute, Puzzle, Unit.

Wow! De-a dreptul impresionant!

PASIUNE; UNIT; DEVOTAT.

ENGLISH VERSION

Precious, Last-minute, Mechanism of cogs and pulleys, Connected.
The question was: How would you describe the Papillons choir?

Some say that the most effective method of bonding with someone is to sing together. Surely the members of George Coșbuc Bilingual High School’s choir get to form very powerful connections through this particular activity. When one watches their performances at the Christmas celebration or other school-related festivities their heart suddenly starts pounding, flooding with all the love these splendid people give off. A family.
But who is the Papillons choir? I had the opportunity to interview its members and I was in for an extremely pleasant surprise. These people stand out through the originality of their ideas, through the passion they bear for what it is they do. Beautiful people, filled with love and exquisite and unique opinions.

My first question was related to when they chose to sign up for the choir. Once you’ve seen them perform on stage it is absolutely impossible not to fall in love. Whether you’ve always had a calling for music or you simply turn into a superstar whenever you’re home alone and the shower becomes your stage, you belong at the choir. From the moment your inner fire lights up when hearing their songs, signing up for the choir becomes inevitable.
Finding possible participants is a process which also takes place during music lessons in school. Every student should sing in front of the class in order to get a grade. Despite some people’s lack of talent, the grade will still be good. However, this procedure is actually a “talent hunt” for our beloved teacher and coordinator of the choir, Mariana Stoian, and also an opportunity for students to embrace their passion for music, which later leads to their signing up.

“But what are we to do with our lives?” This is the question.
Few participants are currently investing in their musical training to further pursue a career in this field. Some of them even have a band (Here’s some promoting: Crimea River; Midnight Party), while some are only focusing on perfecting their voices. This activity is a passion, a hobby which will always remain in their hearts throughout their lives. It’s a shame really that only few of them have in mind to go further down this path, which would actually mean an “unstable” career “full of sacrifices” (Ioana Alexandra Nistor and Ana Niță) and that has gradually turned into a “commercial, tedious and shallow industry” (Andrei Roșoiu- Screech). I’ve also received some rather “idyllic” answers which hint that music could actually lead to a utopian lifestyle, such as the one given by Alexandru Șandru: “There’s this theory called ‘The Theory of the 1000 Superfans’: if there are 1000 fans who buy every single thing you produce- T-shirts, souvenirs, albums- then you have nothing to worry about.”
Of course, taking part in such an activity certainly looks good on a CV, showing one’s ability to work in a team, get organized and manage to communicate effectively with others.

After all this effort, are we even sure it will pay off? This year’s olympiad proved to be hard work due to the long, painful rehearsals. Up until now, however, they’ve been rewarded, having been selected to go to the National phase of the contest after having got the first place on Bucharest. Wow! Truly impressive! Actually, today will take part this final part of the olympiad and I bet they are all feeling terrified. A few days ago, when asked, most of them weren’t really excited, they even felt underprepared. “We put our entire faith in our teacher, Mariana Stoian.” Well, we certainly are dying of curiosity to find out how our dear colleagues have dealt with the nervousness and whether or not they shall beat the record of 3rd place from 2 years ago. But, we are all aware of the fact that they have worked a lot and that they deserve all praise.

“I certainly enjoy the work environment, but there are still a few issues” (where aren’t there any?) says Radu Antal when I ask him about the atmosphere. The first thing one hears when opening the door is a series of laughter afterwards followed by intense training. This clearly shows how Cosbuc’s choir functions, a combination of fun and work. The ideal environment. Students don’t come here with the plain idea in mind of becoming better, but also to contribute to the group with something: “I can bring something here and I know that I will get something in return” (Ana Maria Naum). Of course, there are also moments when everything seems to be going downhill, but in the end, everything gets miraculously back on track (Gilbert Manea). Relatable, right? Therefore, Papillons Choir is actually a family, its members each bringing a tiny piece of their soul and creating this marvelous result. A place where dedication and passion are needed.
Something untidy, stressful, agitated, but which makes it impossible for you not to adore.

PASSION; UNITED; DEVOTED.

Valentinstagskorrespondenz- Valentinskorrespondenz

Nun, was denkst du daran?

Jeder elende winzige Teil davon. Also, muss man jede Gelegenheit wahrnehmen, Liebe zu geben.

Valentine’s Day Correspondence

How was Valentine’s Day for you? Did your crush finally say those words you’d been dying to hear or did they…. did they shatter your heart by being with someone else? The 14th of February has and will always be a day ruled by expectations. Will they be met by the one who has your heart? That’s the tricky part…

Coşbuc introduced a new intriguing activity for this year’s Valentine’s Day. Inspired by the eternal rom coms, the student council placed a box on the hallway on the 13th and invited people to come and send notes to one another. Eagerly thinking that they finally have a chance to take heavy feelings off their chest, tons of people ceased this opportunity. The majority of notes were anonymous. Volunteers split the notes into groups based on the class and spread „the love” on the 14th. During the breaktimes, one could see numerous people excitedly sharing their correspondence. However, disappointment could be felt as well.

Now, what do you think? Is it truly satisfying to declare your affection, or is it just another occasion of getting your heart stomped on?

I dare say that even though you don’t get any notes, your beloved one doesn’t even glance your way and everything seems off, nothing should wipe the grin off your face. High school is a time of major embarrassment, disappointment, excruciating pain, impossible loves… But it is exquisite! Every miserable bit of it! So, I say, take every chance you have of sharing love!

Folter am Mittag- Torture at Noon

1.Februar; 12 Uhr
Endlich Freitag. Endlich Ferien.
1st of February; 12 AM
Finally Friday. Finally holiday. However, I am not yet as free as a bird. I can barely feel my toes after all this pacing around, anxiously thinking about the torture that is to come. FCE Mock.
9th grade is tremendously packed with activities, including ones related to the big, scary upcoming event: the English exam in May. Cosbuc is offering us the chance to train ourselves properly for the gigantic “nightmare” that will have been haunting us for an entire year. Therefore, I believe the right attitude would be to face the first part of the FCE Mock, Speaking (which is today, on the 1st of February), with a smile. But, that is not as easy as it sounds.
1.Februar; 16 Uhr
Fertig.
1st of February; 4 PM
Done. The Speaking part is over and I am incredibly happy to return to my PJs. It has been a crazy day and everyone was extremely nervous. The teachers were very friendly and helped us with their nods and calming smiles.
One sentence I heard a lot today was: “Thank God this was just the Mock.”
2.Februar; 18 Uhr
2nd of February; 6 PM
I don’t know about you, but all I want to do is disconnect my brain and take a break from thinking. I am unbelievably tired. In my opinion, the most interesting thing about today was the fact that we were supposed to choose a nickname for ourselves, so that the results wouldn’t be seen by everyone. The lists with the final marks will certainly look interesting.
So, this part of the torture is over. Enjoy the holiday and see you in May!

Erste Reise im Weltraum/The first trip in space

SPACE TRAVEL IN 2018

It is expected that the year 2018 has a lot of new things to bring and that could also mean the first trip in space for tourist reasons. And as in any industry, there is competition. The two companies that compete against each other are Virgin Galactic and SpaceX, both private companies. Virgin Galactic is rather cautious and takes small steps intending to take tourists mostly across the stratosphere. SpaceX is determined to send two tourists around the moon instead. That would be the farthest a human had been since 1972. But Virgin Galactic already has someone for it’s project and that’s the multimillionaire entrepreneur, Per Wimmer. He said in an interview that he has already spent more than a million dollars just for the ticket but in addition he also has to do a training. „It’s not for everyone,” he says.

Anyway, in a decade the Space Travel could be opened up to the masses and that will have important effects. Space Tourism has the ability to change the perspective of the world. This means that once you are in Cosmos, you can truly understand what to be a human means and also what taking care of the Earth involves.
